Syrsky disbanded the Dnipro OSUV: what is the reason and what will happen next?

In September, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine liquidated the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Khortytsia”, commanded by Major General Mykhailo Drapaty.

This is stated in the material of “Ukrainian Truth”.

The Dnipro Special Operations Group was responsible for a significant section of the front where active combat operations were taking place, from the Zaporizhia region to the Kharkiv region. Among the group’s tasks was, in particular, the distribution of shells between brigades.

From now on, its functions will be transferred to new structures that emerged as a result of the creation of a corps management system.

Instead, Drapatiy will remain the commander of the Joint Forces and will lead one of the groups in the northeastern direction. His area of responsibility will be halved, notes the “UP”.

At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor, a senior military officer, sees Syrsky’s actions as a way to “remove a competitor.”

“On the one hand, this is a logical step, because the “OSUV” layer is disappearing from us – it should disappear with the transition to corps. On the other hand, this step does not help, because Syrsky still commands everyone. What reforms? No corps yet commands its own set of troops, no one has the right to maneuver. They fled from tactical groups (TRGs), and here in the Serebryany Forest they created them again,” the military man explained.

Let us remind you that on August 8, the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Khortytsia” received a new name – OSUV “Dnipro”.
