The defense forces repelled Andreevka in Sumy Oblast and advanced 200 to 700 meters in Yunakovka. In Kursk Oblast, in the Glushkovsky district, Ukrainian troops control about 90 km.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated this during a meeting with journalists, writes Babel .

Syrsky explained that the Russians were trying to advance in the Sumy region and were conducting offensive actions along the line of Kondratovka, Andreyevka, Yablonovka, Yunakovka. According to him, such actions have now been stopped.

“During this time, we recaptured and returned control of Andreyevka, and in Yunakovka we advanced from 200 to 700 meters in a week… We control about 90 km of territory in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, and these are our preventive actions in response to a possible enemy offensive,” the commander-in-chief said.

According to Syrsky, the Ukrainian group there is led by Brigadier General Oleg Apostol, who was appointed to the post of commander of the Airborne Assault Forces.

The Commander-in-Chief is confident that the actions of Ukrainian forces in the Glushkovsky district have thwarted the plans of the Russians.

According to him, in April 2025, Russian units – about 60 thousand people (including two airborne assault divisions, airborne assault brigades, and marine brigades) – were tasked with replenishing the groups in Pokrovsky, Toretsky, Limansky, Zaporizhzhya, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson.

“But our active actions in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation thwarted these plans,” he added.

Recall that the representative of the State National Security Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko stated that a new stage of the Russian ground offensive is continuing in the north of Ukraine. In the Sumy region, Russian troops continue to overthrow infantry groups within the Yunakivska and Khotyn communities.

It later became known that Russian occupation forces were advancing in the Sumy region , in particular the enemy had reached a distance that allowed them to strike the regional center with FPV drones.

After this, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that he did not rule out the capture of Sumy , but he added that the Russian army currently has no such goal.
