The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated that the most likely direction of the new offensive of the Russian army is the Chernihiv region. According to him, the occupiers may launch offensive actions from the territory of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.

He said this in an interview with TSN.

Syrsky noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian General Staff to work out various scenarios for conducting an offensive operation, including from the territory of Belarus, with the aim of capturing Kyiv and other Ukrainian territories.

At the same time, the commander-in-chief expressed doubt that the Belarusian authorities would agree to provide their territory as a springboard for a new invasion.

“Given recent events, I do not think that the leadership of Belarus will dare to use its own territory and give it to the aggressor as a bridgehead,” he said.

Instead, Syrsky called another scenario more realistic.

“The most likely option, which is confirmed by several data, is possible offensive actions in the north from the territory of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. This is a realistic option and, of course, we are preparing for this,” the commander-in-chief emphasized.

According to him, by opening a new direction of hostilities, Russia will try to pull Ukrainian forces from the east and south, as well as increase the length of the front line.

As a reminder, Russian troops have intensified assault and infiltration operations in the Donetsk direction , using summer vegetation for covert movement. At the same time, according to the Ukrainian military, the occupiers are suffering significant losses and are not achieving strategic successes.
