In an interview with Channel 24, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, made a number of statements regarding the situation at the front, the incident in Hulyaipol, the losses of the Russian army, the defense of Pokrovsk, the fighting near Kupyansk, and new contracts for the military.
This is reported by Channel 24.
Syrsky confirmed the incident in the Hulyaipil direction, where Russian military personnel were able to enter the command and observation post of one of the battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, this happened due to the withdrawal of a unit that could not hold its defense.
“The incident occurred due to the withdrawal of the brigade, which could not withstand the enemy’s pressure, although it had the opportunity to destroy valuables,” the commander-in-chief said.
He clarified that the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade gradually retreated during the fighting, which forced the command to transfer assault units to the area. In particular, reinforcements from the 5th Assault Brigade approached almost directly to the command post.
Syrsky stressed that the battalion commander was ordered to organize a perimeter defense and destroy materials that could contain confidential information, but he did not do so. The Military Law Enforcement Service is currently conducting an investigation and has already provided a legal assessment of his actions.
At the same time, the commander-in-chief noted that the situation in the Hulyaipol area has stabilized, and the city’s defense is being held by the 225th Assault Regiment. According to him, over the past month, the enemy has no advantages in this direction and has suffered significant losses.
Speaking about Pokrovsk, Syrsky reported that Russian troops control approximately half of the city, but cannot operate freely due to the active operation of Ukrainian drones.
“The enemy cannot calmly enter Pokrovsk, because all approaches are under the control of our drones,” he noted.
Syrsky also stated that the Defense Forces will continue active operations near Kupyansk in 2026. The main task remains the destruction of enemy crossing routes and long-term counter-sabotage measures directly in the city.
Separately, the commander-in-chief reported that the Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff, is finalizing the development of new contracts for military personnel. They provide for an increase in financial support at least three times and will have clearly defined terms of service. The document, he said, is under the personal control of the president.
It was previously reported that the Russian army loses an average of 1,000-1,100 servicemen every day in the war against Ukraine, and the number of deaths in the Russian Federation is approximately six times higher than in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
