On Wednesday, January 28, the Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv allowed former judge Oleksiy Tandyr, who shot down a National Guard soldier at a checkpoint, to be released from custody after posting bail.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
In particular, the judge decided to extend the preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention.
Despite the fact that the prosecutor insisted on continuing the arrest without setting bail, his request was partially granted.
The court decided to apply arrest to Tandyr with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 119 million 880 thousand.
As a reminder, on the night of May 26, the head of the Makarivskyi District Court, Oleksiy Tandyr, beat to death a 23-year-old National Guardsman at a checkpoint in the capital . Law enforcement officers detained him. The judge refused to be tested for alcohol and drugs, but had visual clinical signs of intoxication.
Tandyr later admitted to fatally hitting National Guardsman Vadym Bondarenko, but denied speeding and being drunk . He said he was driving at 20 kilometers per hour and was unaware of a bottle of hard liquor found under the seat of his car.
Later, the High Council of Justice suspended Judge Tandyr from administering justice until July 25, 2023, due to his criminal prosecution.
