Tanks, howitzers and logistics: Croatia allocates funds for Ukraine

The Croatian government has decided to join the NATO PURL mechanism, allocating about 15 million euros for the purchase and transfer of military equipment for the needs of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Croatian government.

Funding will be provided within the framework of the revision of the state budget for 2025. The total amount of funds planned by Croatia for large-scale defense procurement is 235.7 million euros.

The government also approved the allocation of funds for advance payments for the purchase of modern weapons and related infrastructure. These include, in particular, CAESAR Mk2 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks, training simulators, as well as long-term logistical support with extended guarantees.

In a separate decision, almost €15 million was reallocated to the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. These funds will be used directly for the country’s contribution to the PURL mechanism, which, under NATO auspices, coordinates the procurement and supply of military equipment to Ukraine in accordance with urgent needs on the front line.

The PURL mechanism combines the resources of partner countries to promptly provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons and military equipment.

As a reminder, Romania has joined the international PURL mechanism, which provides for financing the purchase of American weapons for the needs of Ukraine. The Romanian government made the corresponding decision.
