The Iranian regime has broadcast on television the first statement by newly elected Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
This was reported by Sky News.
He called on the Iranian people to unite and declared that Tehran would not leave its enemies unanswered.
Khamenei added that he had lost his father and wife, and his sister had lost her child and husband, so the Iranian regime would not ignore revenge.
“Iran will not give up on avenging the blood of its martyrs. It’s not just that they killed our supreme leader. And this applies not only to him, but to every compatriot who died during the recent war,” he stressed.
Separately, the leader stressed that the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently blocked by Iran, will remain closed. According to him, this is pressure on Israel and the United States.
Khamenei repeated the thesis that Iran is only attacking American military bases located in neighboring countries.
“The existence of American bases in some of these countries and the use of these bases to attack Iran does not benefit the region and they must be closed. As we have said, we are not enemies of the countries around us, and we are only attacking the bases of these Americans,” he assured.
As a reminder, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was injured on the first day of the US and Israeli military operation.
Earlier, Iran’s Assembly of Experts, at an extraordinary meeting, elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader . He became the third spiritual leader of the republic after the death of his father.
By the way, the previous Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was killed as a result of a US and Israeli operation.
