SBI officers have exposed a border guard from Transcarpathia who was making money by illegally smuggling men across the border to Romania. For his “services,” he demanded $2,000 in cryptocurrency, communicating via Telegram.
This is reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators found that the head of a group in one of the border units used official information to organize an illegal departure. When a colleague asked to help an acquaintance, the soldier decided to cash in on the scheme and offered an illegal route for money.
He demanded that the payment be made via an anonymous crypto wallet. After receiving the funds, the suspect sent the “customer” a file with coordinates, a detailed route, and tips on how to avoid border control.
The State Bureau of Investigation charges him with Part 3 of Article 332 and Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Both articles provide for up to 9 years of imprisonment. Investigators have already filed a motion for detention and are checking possible accomplices among other officials.
As previously reported, the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of the National Police, and the State Border Guard Service, exposed a criminal group that organized the illegal transfer of military personnel across the state border and facilitated the desertion of military personnel for monetary reward.
We will remind, in Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of terrorist attacks that were being prepared by a resident of the Russian FSB .
