In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of terrorist attacks prepared by a resident of the Russian FSB. According to the investigation, the enemy planned contract killings of Ukrainian media figures, bombings in large shopping and entertainment centers and at a metro station in the capital.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
It was established that the organizer of the crimes is a resident of temporarily occupied Crimea, who after the seizure of the peninsula began working for Russian special services. He was looking for “collaborators” among local acquaintances with Ukrainian citizenship who were not subject to mobilization due to their age.
The SBU recorded an attempt to recruit an agent who arrived in Kyiv via a third country. There, he was supposed to receive a Makarov pistol and instructions for the contract killing of a media person, as well as prepare explosions in a shopping mall and on the subway using homemade bombs controlled remotely via a mobile phone.
All contacts of the agent with the FSB are documented. The resident from Crimea has already been notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code: high treason, a terrorist act, and illegal handling of weapons. Since he is in the occupied territory, law enforcement officers are taking comprehensive measures to bring him to justice.
An investigation is underway into all participants in the FSB agent network; the operation was conducted jointly by SBU investigators in Kyiv and the region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
As a reminder, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian FSB agent in Kharkiv who was making an improvised explosive device and planning to detonate it in the city.
As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a married couple in Odessa who were planning to carry out a terrorist attack near the locations of Ukrainian military personnel.
