Terrorists blow up bus in Colombia: 14 people killed, 38 injured, including children

A bus explosion occurred on the Pan-American Highway in southwestern Colombia, killing at least 14 people and injuring 38 others.

The explosion occurred in the El Tunel sector of the city of Cahibio. According to available information, 5 children are among the injured.

Cauca Department Governor Octavio Guzman said the explosive device was detonated during an attack on civilians.

Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts. Authorities are also initiating the convening of a national security council in connection with the incident.

The Colombian armed forces blamed the attack on a militant network known as “Ivan Mordisco” and the “Jaime Martinez” group.

It is noted that these groups are linked to former rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and are not adhering to the peace agreement signed in 2016.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned the attack on civilians.

“Terrorists, fascists and drug traffickers,” said Gustavo Petro.

According to journalists, this incident was part of a series of attacks on public infrastructure. Over the past 2 days, at least 26 such incidents have occurred in the southwestern part of the country, resulting in civilian casualties.

Earlier, two high-speed passenger trains collided in southern Spain near the town of Adamas in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The accident killed at least 39 people and injured dozens more, some of them in serious condition.
