Thank you for the fact that Ukraine exists and will definitely continue to exist: Poroshenko congratulated his compatriots on Independence Day.

Petro Poroshenko, the fifth president and leader of the European Solidarity party, congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day. In a video message, he thanked all those who make Ukraine alive today and defend its future.

“Thirty-five years ago, Ukraine became independent. But independence doesn’t live only in documents, borders, or symbols. It lives in people. In those who stay, work, protect, save, and rebuild every day. And choose independence once again,” Poroshenko noted.

“Today I want to say the most important word to you: thank you! Thank you to the soldiers. To those who hold the front. To those who are tired, but who have not retreated. To those whose short message, ‘I’m alive,’ is awaited daily at home. Thank you to the military medics. To those who go where others are trying to leave. To those who, under fire, give people the chance to see the morning,” says the fifth President.

“Thank you to the volunteers. To those who have been waking up for 12 years with the front in mind. To those who search, collect, buy, and deliver, and never ask what difference it will make. Because they know: sometimes one car, one drone, one first aid kit, or one turnstile changes everything. Thank you to the rescuers. To those who enter fires, who clear rubble with their own hands, who search until the very last moment for a person, a child, even a pet, under the rubble, because every life matters. Thank you to the power and utility workers. To those who restore the lights after a dark night. To those who clear the streets of rubble before dawn, so that our cities can wake up and live again,” says Petro Poroshenko.

“Thank you to the farmers. Those who sow on land that was cleared of mines just yesterday. Those who harvest grain under alarm and feed the army, the community, Ukraine. Thank you to the teachers. Those who teach underground, without power, sometimes without heat, those who live amidst war with their children, with our future. Thank you to the doctors. Those who don’t ask how much longer they can endure, but who simply enter the next ward and do everything they can to keep people alive,” Poroshenko said.

“And thank you to the families. To those who wait, because it truly is not easy. To those who support, to those who learn to live with anxiety and still find the strength to love, work, and raise children. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to name everyone and we won’t be able to thank each one personally, but we know the main thing: it’s not abstract words that hold the country together—it’s people like you. Thirty-five years ago, we voted for independence, and today, we, Ukrainians, prove every day that our country has a great future. Thank you for Ukraine’s endurance! For Ukraine’s survival! And for the fact that Ukraine will, it definitely will!” the fifth President is convinced.
