The “Achilles” drone regiment became a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The 429th Achilles Unmanned Systems Regiment was officially deployed as the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was announced by the unit’s command in a video message on the occasion of the anniversary of the formation’s scaling.

Exactly one year ago, Achilles was transferred from a battalion to a regimental format. This marked the beginning of the unit’s rapid growth, which has now culminated in its deployment to the brigade level.

Scaling up means increasing the number, expanding the staff structure, and significantly enhancing combat capabilities. The unit is part of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and specializes in the systematic use of strike and reconnaissance UAVs.

During combat operations, Achilles hit more than 57 thousand enemy targets, which is one of the highest figures among drone units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The unit’s fighters participated in large-scale operations in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions, operating as part of strike and defensive groups.

Achilles has formed its own model of drone warfare – with division into specialized crews, analytical groups, and constant adjustment of tactics depending on the situation on the battlefield.

Deployment to a brigade involves the creation of a full-fledged headquarters, several UAV battalions, electronic warfare, intelligence, and logistics units, which will allow for autonomous drone operations at the operational level.
