Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, who headed Ukrenergo in previous years, reported on the current state of the Ukrainian power grid, which is currently operating at approximately 60% of its capacity. Despite regular shelling and some shortages, the system remains managed by dispatchers.

He spoke about this on the air of “Pryamoy”, commenting on forecasts regarding the possible failure of the infrastructure.

“There will be no collapse of the energy system, because the Russians, simply by the means they use to attack the energy system, are not capable of causing a complete collapse of our energy system,” Kudrytsky emphasized.

He noted that the Ukrainian grid has already withstood about 50 massive attacks since the beginning of 2022. According to him, even the 101st strike will not be able to completely stop the supply of electricity, although this will require great efforts from energy professionals. The situation currently remains uneven across regions due to network restrictions that prevent the transmission of the necessary power from the western regions to the east.

Despite the everyday discomfort and hourly outages, Kudrytskyi predicts an improvement in circumstances starting in March. Today, dispatchers are keeping the situation under control, avoiding a nationwide blackout even after emergency shutdowns of main lines, the former official explains.

In addition, he refuted the apocalyptic predictions of the foreign press, noting the resilience of Ukrainian infrastructure, which has already passed numerous tests.

Recently, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that Russia has carried out 217 attacks on Ukrainian energy since the beginning of 2026 alone. According to her, given the difficult situation, the government “continues to provide comprehensive support” to people and businesses.

As is known, on the night of February 3, Russia struck the most powerful blow to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the beginning of 2026. Electricity generation and distribution facilities came under attack.

Meanwhile, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the order of turning off the lights may soon worsen . In addition, the Russians are preparing for new attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the coming week.
