On the night of August 28, 2025, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a large-scale attack on key facilities of Russia’s military-economic potential. The Afipsky and Kuibyshevsky oil refineries, as well as ammunition depots and logistics centers of the aggressor, were hit.

This was reported by the press service of the General Staff.

Afipsky Oil Refinery

Units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine attacked the Afipsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation.

“The main products of its processing are gasoline and diesel fuel, which is used to supply the army of invaders. The annual processing volume is 6.25 million tons of oil. A large-scale fire was recorded on the territory of the facility,” the report said.

Afipsky Refinery is located in the village of Afipsky, near the city of Krasnodar. The distance to the Ukrainian border is approximately 300 km. It is one of the key oil refineries in southern Russia. Its production capacity allows it to process more than 6 million tons of oil annually. The main products are automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, and fuel for military equipment.

The plant plays an important role in ensuring the logistics of the occupation forces in the southern direction, in particular in Crimea and the occupied territories of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

Kuibyshev Oil Refinery

“Units of the Unmanned Systems Forces and Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a fire attack on the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in the Samara Region of the Russian Federation,” the General Staff said.

It is known that the enterprise produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oils, solvents – a total of more than 30 types of petroleum products. The processing capacity is 7 million tons of oil per year. Explosions and fires have been recorded on the territory of the plant.”

Kuibyshev Refinery (often also called Novokuibyshev Refinery) is located in the city of Samara, about 1,000 km from the Ukrainian border. It is one of the largest oil refineries in the Volga region and is part of the structure of the Russian oil company Rosneft.

The enterprise specializes in the production of fuel for civilian and military equipment, aviation kerosene, as well as specialized solvents. The destruction of this particular facility demonstrates Ukraine’s ability to operate deep inside Russian territory, which was previously considered unlikely.

Ammunition depots and logistics facilities

Also, the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck ammunition depots and a number of logistical facilities of the Russian aggressor. The facilities are located both directly in the Russian Federation and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

These are logistics hubs and warehouses that supply Russian troops with ammunition, explosives, and fuel. They are located near railways and roads, allowing for the rapid transfer of resources to the front line.

Such warehouses traditionally become targets for Ukrainian strikes, as their destruction directly affects the ability of Russian occupation forces to conduct combat operations.

The destruction of these facilities undermined the Russian Federation’s ability to supply its troops with fuel and ammunition. Losses of refineries of this scale could affect the stability of the Russian army’s logistics, especially in a protracted war.

It was previously reported that on the night of August 27-28 , a series of drone attacks on strategically important fuel infrastructure facilities occurred in Russia . Two large oil refineries were hit – Afipsky in the Krasnodar Territory and Novokuybyshevsky in the Samara Region.

By the way, on the night of August 28 , a forest fire broke out in the area of Cape Idokopas, near Vladimir Putin’s palace near Gelendzhik. According to local sources, the fire began after a drone attack – the fire has already covered more than 3 hectares of territory.
