The Armed Forces of Ukraine denied rumors about an enemy breakthrough in the Pokrovsk direction: what is the situation in the city?

The Armed Forces of Ukraine denied information about a breakthrough by Russian troops in the Pokrov direction, emphasizing that the situation, although it remains tense, is under control. The 1st Operational Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” was deployed here to support the defense, which has already occupied designated positions and is blocking the enemy’s attempts to advance.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces StratCom.

The department officially responded to reports circulating online about an alleged breakthrough by the troops of the aggressor country Russia in the Pokrovsky direction. According to the military, these rumors are untrue and “do not reflect real facts.”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine explained that Russian units use the tactic of infiltration in small groups past the first line of defense, losing a lot of personnel. For example, near Dobropillya, a small enemy group was able to bypass Ukrainian positions and tried to hide in the rear, but the defense forces quickly repulsed it. A similar situation occurred a week ago, when a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group tried to penetrate Pokrovsk, but was defeated.

To strengthen the defense, the 1st operational corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov” was transferred to one of the most tense sections of the front. As reported by the press service of the unit, a few days ago the military occupied a designated defense strip. The situation in this direction remains complex and dynamic, but the enemy, despite active attempts to break through, is suffering serious losses in manpower and equipment.

Azov noted that a number of tactical operations aimed at blocking enemy forces were carried out.

Earlier, it was reported about the advance of the Russian occupiers in the areas of Kucherevoy Yar, Zolotye Kolodyaz, and Maiske. The operational command of “Dnipro” emphasized that the infiltration of the enemy in the Dobropil and Pokrovsk directions does not mean the capture or control of the territory.

At the same time, former Chief of Staff of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” Bohdan Krotevych described the situation on the Pokrovsk-Konstyantynivka line as critical. Battalion Commander of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” Oleksandr Shirshyn called on the command to make the necessary decisions to stabilize the front in this area.

As a reminder, Russian occupation forces have accumulated a large number of personnel between three cities in the Donetsk region – Pokrovske, Dobropillya, and Kostyantynivka.

As reported, the situation in the front-line city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, remains critical – the city is virtually cut off from external communications, is constantly under fire, and it is impossible to deliver humanitarian or medical aid there.
