The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the Russian garrison at the drilling site in the Black Sea
Ukrainian forces have launched a precision strike on a Russian military facility in the Black Sea, the Sivash drilling platform, which the occupiers were using for surveillance, communications, and control of the maritime space near Crimea. The attack destroyed a Russian special forces unit stationed on the platform, as well as surveillance equipment and anti-tank systems.
This was reported by The Telegraph with reference to the Ukrainian Navy.
The Syvash platform is one of the so-called Boyko Towers seized by Russia after the occupation of Crimea in 2014. Ukrainian intelligence has found that the facility housed a Russian special forces unit with modern monitoring systems. They controlled the sea and airspace in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
According to the Navy, the strike was highly accurate: the platform lost its combat capabilities, and the Russian water surveillance system was virtually paralyzed.
After the attack, Russian propaganda outlets released a video claiming that their Lancet drone had hit a Ukrainian ship. However, the Ukrainian military denied these claims, stressing that the footage showed a Ukrainian kamikaze drone operating against Russian positions, not the destruction of a Ukrainian ship.
Before the occupation, the Sivash platform belonged to the state-owned company Chornomornaftogaz and was used for oil and gas production. After the seizure of Crimea, Russia transformed it into a military facility, deploying electronic warfare systems, surveillance, and sonar equipment to track vessel movements.
The strike on “Syvash” became another element of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ large-scale campaign to destroy Russian military and energy facilities. Last week, Ukrainian “Neptune” missiles hit the Orlov Thermal Power Plant and Novobryansk substation, which provided energy to Russian defense enterprises. The Orlov Thermal Power Plant covered up to 40% of the region’s electricity supply.
Analysts note that Ukraine is systematically striking at Russia’s logistical and industrial hubs, weakening its military capability, while intense fighting continues at the front.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces advanced approximately 461 sq km in October, mostly within the Donetsk region. The heaviest fighting continues in the Pokrovsk area.
Ukrainian units are holding their positions, preventing the occupiers from fully establishing themselves in the city. Representatives of the 7th Airborne Assault Brigade report that the operation to liberate Pokrovsk is ongoing, while the enemy is also trying to attack in the direction of Myrnograd.
As a reminder, an explosion occurred on the territory of a local petrochemical enterprise in the Russian city of Sterlitamak (Bashkortostan) on the morning of November 4. The event was preceded by the announcement of a “drone danger” in the region.
As reported, on the night of November 2 , special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate destroyed expensive Russian air defense facilities in temporarily occupied Crimea.
