The Armed Forces of Ukraine have completely switched to a corps-based command system: how did this affect the front?

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Andriy Gnatov, announced the completion of the troops’ transition to a corps structure.

He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to him, all newly created corps are already carrying out their assigned tasks as part of designated groups.

However, there are issues regarding staffing, training, and changes that occur within the corps. Gnatov noted that a mechanism such as the Armed Forces is constantly being modified, and organizational measures are always ongoing there.

“The General Staff organized and carried out extensive work on the simultaneous training of all ten newly created corps departments. Of course, this required considerable effort, especially involving the most trained representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Also, instructors from partner countries were involved in the training of the corps departments’ personnel,” the official added.

At the same time, he emphasized that the transition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a corps system helped thwart Russian plans for rapid offensives in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia regions.

The Major General explained that the command posts of the new corps are staffed to the specified standards. This allows them to implement combat missions as intended.

Also, commenting on changes in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hnatov noted that measures to create Assault Troops and Cyber Forces are ongoing.

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, reported on the modernization of the army . A corresponding plan was also approved for the transition to a new organizational structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the creation of corps.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the approval of a plan to transition to a new organizational structure of the Armed Forces and the creation of corps.
