During the February offensive operation on the southern sector of the front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine regained control of eight settlements and advanced in certain directions.

This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War.

Analysts note that Ukrainian units have advanced east of Verbovye, which is confirmed by geolocation materials from February 21. The military also recorded their presence in the northwestern part of Ternuvaty. There have been no signs of Russian units in this area since the beginning of the month.

According to ISW, Ukrainian troops liberated Andriivka, Ostapivske, Pishchane, Nechaivka, Radisne, and Novye Zaporizhzhia. In addition, Ternuvaty and the territories near Verbovye were returned under control.

Analysts emphasize that for more than two weeks, no visual evidence of the presence of Russian troops in these settlements has been recorded.

The operation is accompanied by active artillery and unmanned aerial systems, which allows Ukrainian forces to exhaust the enemy’s logistics and consolidate the liberated positions.

Successes in this direction indicate the implementation of the tactical plans of the Ukrainian command and the gradual expansion of the controlled territory.

As previously reported, since the end of January 2026, Ukrainian units have regained control of 400 sq. km of territory and eight settlements in the South.

As a reminder, the Defense Forces managed to push back the Russians near the settlements of Ternove, Vyshneve, and Verbove in the Oleksandrivka direction.
