The Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Volgograd Oil Refinery and the Yaroslavl-3 power plant: consequences of the attack

On May 28 and the night of May 29, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of Russian occupiers’ facilities in the territory of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine. After the attacks, fires were recorded at the Volgograd Oil Refinery and the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station, as well as damage to enemy military facilities.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff announced that the Volgograd Oil Refinery in the Volgograd Region of the Russian Federation was hit. A fire was recorded on the territory of the enterprise.
According to the military, the primary oil refining units AVT-1, AVT-3, AVT-5 and AVT-6, as well as the secondary refining units, were hit. After the attack, the plant stopped production processes. The extent of the damage is being determined.
The General Staff noted that the Volgograd Refinery is part of the Lukoil company and is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the south of the Russian Federation. Its refining capacity is about 14 million tons of oil per year.
The Defense Forces also struck the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station in the Yaroslavl region of the Russian Federation. A fire broke out on the station’s territory.
According to the General Staff, the fire was confirmed in two oil tanks with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters and 20,000 cubic meters. The extent of the damage is being determined.
The report notes that the Yaroslavl-3 station is a hub station of the Surgut-Polotsk pipeline, which is used to transport oil to the Baltic ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, as well as to Belarus. The facility is part of the Transneft company.
In addition, the Ukrainian military struck:
- Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system in the Berdyansk district of Zaporizhia region;
- enemy command and observation post near Liman Pershhoy, Kharkiv region;
- UAV control points in the areas of Tyotkino, Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Komar, Donetsk region, and Nesteryanka, Zaporizhia region;
- enemy material and technical equipment depot in the Aydar area of Luhansk region.
The Defense Forces also struck at areas of enemy manpower concentration in the areas of Novopetrivka and Novohrygorivka in Zaporizhia region, Rodynske in Donetsk region, Kleven in Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Sichneve in Dnipropetrovsk region, and Basivka in Sumy region.
By the way, on the night of May 29, a drone attack occurred in the Russian city of Yaroslavl , which damaged an industrial zone and caused a fire at facilities where fuel was stored.
