Fighters of the Third Assault Brigade destroyed a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter during an operation in Luhansk region. The strike was carried out by Hornet kamikaze drones after the helicopter landed.
This is reported by the Third Army Corps.
According to the military, during a raid on Russian logistics, a Hornet kamikaze UAV crew from the SKYFOM strike wing platoon of the unmanned systems battalion spotted an Mi-8 helicopter and attempted to intercept it in the air. Due to the actions of Ukrainian operators, the Russian aircraft was forced to change direction.
Since the helicopter’s cruising speed exceeded the speed of the attack drones, the Ukrainian military attacked it after landing. The first Hornet struck in the area of the fuel tanks, and the second drone hit the target.
The attack resulted in the Russian helicopter being completely burned down. According to the Third Army Corps, the Russian army uses the Mi-8 for personnel and cargo transfers, evacuations, and fire support.
Recall that servicemen of the 115th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed how they used an anti-aircraft FPV drone to hit a Russian Mi-28NM attack helicopter . The enemy aircraft was intercepted directly in the air.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter using an FPV drone . The operation was carried out by soldiers of the 59th separate assault brigade in the Pokrovsky direction. Later, the military released footage of the damage and the condition of the helicopter after the strike.
