US President Donald Trump announced that the US and the European Union have reached a trade deal, just days before the deadline.

This was reported by Politico.

As it became known, the agreement fixes the duty rate at 15%.

In addition, the European Union will purchase energy resources worth $750 billion, despite the fact that annual US energy exports are about $250 billion.

At the same time, Brussels agreed to invest $600 billion more in the United States than planned. In particular, the funds will be directed to military equipment and the opening of markets for duty-free trade.

It is noted that import duties, including on cars, will be at the level of 15%, steel and aluminum will be subject to 50% tariffs. However, the agreement does not apply to pharmaceutical products.

Trump called the relevant trade agreement with the EU the largest the United States has ever concluded.

“We had to do hard work. But also thanks to the negotiations we had many times on the way to our goal – but now we have achieved it,” added European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump previously announced the introduction of new 30% tariffs on goods from the European Union starting August 1 , unless they agree to new trade terms.

At the same time, Donald Trump threatened the European Union with the introduction of 17% tariffs on food and agricultural exports.

By the way, in April, the US decided to provide a 90-day reprieve for more than 75 countries that are negotiating with US regulators on trade barriers and tariff policies. During this period, mutual duties will be temporarily reduced by 10%.
