The bodies of 1,000 victims have been returned to Ukraine – Koordshtab

As part of repatriation efforts, 1,000 bodies, which the Russian side claims belong to Ukrainian military personnel, were returned to Ukraine.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this.

Law enforcement investigators, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ expert institutions, will soon conduct all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.

Repatriation activities were carried out as a result of joint work by employees of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons.

The headquarters also thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance.

“Special thanks go to the personnel of the Central Directorate of the Central Internal Affairs Center of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Center for Support of Events of the Central Internal Affairs Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is transporting repatriated persons to designated state specialized institutions, organizing the transfer of the deceased to representatives of law enforcement agencies within the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and forensic medical examination within the Ministry of Health system,” the Ministry of Health system states.
