The British Defense Minister warned of a possible war.

British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting stated that by 2030, the country’s adversaries could gain the ability to strike. He also accused the Conservative Party, which was in power from 2010 to 2024, of weakening the British military.

He wrote about this in a Telegraph column.

According to the minister, threats to the UK are not limited to conventional warfare. He also noted the growing risks of terrorism, sabotage, and other hostile acts aimed at disrupting everyday life and undermining the security of citizens.

“The most serious threats of the 20th century are returning, armed with 21st-century technologies,” Streeting noted.

The Minister of Defence stated that his top priority was to ensure the country was prepared for war and capable of winning. He also accused the previous Conservative government of leaving Britain with the smallest army since the Napoleonic Wars.

Streeting expressed confidence that the current government will be able to achieve the defence spending targets agreed upon by NATO countries.

“Their military strength and military economy could give them the ability to strike by 2030. This leaves us with just over 1,000 days to fulfill our mission: to be ready, together with our allies, to fight and win,” the minister added.

Earlier, the UK government urged citizens to prepare at least three days’ worth of water and food supplies at home.
