The Cabinet of Ministers has tightened control over drug prices.

The Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Health and the State Service for the Supervision of Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine to monitor the prices of certain medicines in order to prevent their cost from increasing.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to her, the government has instructed the Ministry of Health and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection to monitor the prices of medicines. If violations in markups are detected, the government will react and fine such business entities.
“For this purpose, a list of medicines will be determined, according to which the Ministry of Health, together with the State Medical Service, will constantly monitor prices in pharmacies. Weekly reports will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers,” she added.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers previously adopted a number of decisions aimed at reducing prices for medicines and increasing their availability. In particular, this concerns permission to carry out retail trade in over-the-counter medicines at gas stations with an appropriate license.
