People’s Deputy Rostyslav Pavlenko analyzed the points of the basic document on the end of the war, voiced by Volodymyr Zelensky. The representative of “European Solidarity” pointed out the serious risks arising from the proposed sequence of steps.
The People’s Deputy considers it unacceptable that the key issues of security and the cessation of hostilities have effectively ended up at the end of the list of conditions, while Russia continues daily shelling and offensives.
“This agreement puts the cart before the horse, so to speak. We see 19 points about various conditions, various difficult things, and the issue of a ceasefire is put at the very end,” he noted on the air of “Pryamoye”.
The politician warned against the use of questionable technologies, including remote electronic voting. According to him, true democracy requires the lifting of martial law restrictions and the return of independent TV channels to digital broadcasting.
Pavlenko is convinced that security guarantees must be so powerful that the Kremlin has no opportunity to renew aggression in the future. Only after the situation stabilizes will society be able to give an honest assessment of the actions of the state leadership in free elections.
As a reminder, the day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented details of a 20-point draft basic document on the end of the war between Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and the European Union. The head of state also announced that Russia’s reaction to the draft will become known after negotiations with the American side.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that if the issue of territories cannot be agreed upon during the negotiations, the entire peace plan may be put to a referendum . The President of Ukraine emphasized that the issue of territories is the most difficult in the peace plan, which states that in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions the contact line is fixed at the location of the troops on the date of the agreement – that is, “we stand where we stand.”
However, the presented “peace plan”, which includes 20 points, is most likely the first line of retreat for the Ukrainian side , rather than the final compromise. Such a scenario, although it may be acceptable to us, is unlikely to satisfy the Russian side, which will force Ukraine to make further concessions, – said entrepreneur and blogger Karl Volokh on the air of “Pryamoy”.
