The case of money in envelopes: NABU received materials about possible illegal actions of Arakhamia
The Prosecutor General’s Office has transferred to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine documents regarding the Anti-Corruption Center’s appeal regarding possible illegal actions by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia. The materials relate to the case of alleged distribution of money to people’s deputies for voting in the Verkhovna Rada.
This was reported by “Censor.NET” with a reference to the response of the UCP.
The Prosecutor General’s Office was informed that an official response had already been sent to the author of the appeal. The documents were forwarded to the NABU, as the facts set forth in them are the subject of an investigation into criminal proceedings conducted by the Bureau.
“Given that the facts set forth in the appeals are the subject of an investigation in criminal proceedings conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, copies of the specified documents have been sent to the NABU for consideration during the pre-trial investigation,” the UCP noted.
The department also added that no appeals or requests had been received from the Anti-Corruption Center on this issue before.
Earlier, the CPC filed a statement about a possible crime against the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamia, to the acting Prosecutor General, Oleksiy Kovalsky. The public organization explained that they turned to him because an investigation into a people’s deputy requires a corresponding decision from the Prosecutor General or his acting representative.
The appeal concerns the alleged distribution of money in envelopes to MPs from the Servant of the People party for voting in parliament.
Earlier, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicions against 5 people’s deputies from this faction in the case of receiving illegal benefits for voting in the Verkhovna Rada. These are Yuriy Kisel, Yevhen Pyvovarov, Igor Negulevsky, Olga Savchenko, and Mykhailo Laba.
The case materials refer to alleged payments for the desired voting results. Subsequently, the courts considered the issue of preventive measures for those involved in the proceedings.
Previously, NABU and SAPO also received court permits to take biological samples from Arakhamia’s assistant. At the same time, notifying the faction leader himself about the possible preparation of suspicion does not mean that he has already been declared suspicious.
Following the appeal of the Central Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that it had transferred the relevant documents to the NABU for consideration during the pre-trial investigation. The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the facts set forth in the appeal are already the subject of the Bureau’s investigation.
It was previously reported that over 1.1 billion hryvnia in bail has already been paid for defendants in high-profile corruption cases involving former and current officials from Volodymyr Zelensky’s entourage. A significant portion of this money came through companies with no real business activity.
