The Central Democratic Party of Bulgaria announced the spread of Russian propaganda in Bulgaria

Pro-Russian narratives aimed at discrediting Ukraine and reducing its international support are being spread in the Bulgarian information space. In particular, propagandists are trying to convince the audience that Russian strikes make investments in Ukraine unprofitable and pose a threat to foreign business.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

According to the Center, Russian-linked resources are promoting the thesis that strikes on industrial and logistics facilities allegedly call into question the possibility of attracting foreign investment to Ukraine and hinder the work of export corridors for Western companies.

The CPD notes that in this way propagandists are trying to shift attention from Russian aggression to the allegedly excessive risks for foreign business in Ukraine.

The resources that spread such claims belong to a segment of Bulgarian media that independent research organizations call key centers of pro-Kremlin influence in the country. According to the Center, more than 70% of their content is reprints, translations, and adaptations of materials from Russian state media that are under sanctions.

The CPD also drew attention to the fact that such sites help Russian propaganda circumvent the European Union’s sanctions restrictions and enter the information space of EU countries.

The Center called on the international community to pay attention to local resources that rebroadcast materials from Russian propaganda media.
