A fake story about an alleged outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Zhytomyr region based on the Ryhalske State Enterprise began to spread online.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Russian propaganda claims that the Ukrainian authorities are allegedly covering up the epidemic, that children are being hospitalized en masse with “poisoning,” and that contaminated meat and milk are being sold in stores.

The CPS emphasized that this information is not true.

They explained that the death of the cattle was due to improper housing conditions and hunger, not infectious diseases.

The specialized environmental prosecutor’s office is already conducting an investigation into this fact under the article on animal cruelty.

The CPR also reminded that Ukraine officially has the status of a country free from foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination.

At the same time, it is in Russia that increased risks of the spread of this disease are currently being recorded.

The CPD believes that with such informational attacks, the Kremlin is trying to divert attention from its own epidemiological problems, sow panic among Ukrainians, discredit state bodies, and hit the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

It was previously reported that Russian propagandists are spreading a new information hoax about alleged “atrocities” by the Ukrainian military.

As a reminder, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported on the spread of fake information about the murder in Cherkasy region . According to the Center, Russian propaganda used a real crime to discredit the Ukrainian military.
