The Verkhovna Rada approved in its entirety draft law No. 13533 on the restoration of the independence of the NABU and the SAPO.

This was reported by Oleksiy Honcharenko, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity party, on Telegram.

Honcharenko noted that the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada has already signed the bill on restoring the independence of the NABU and the SAPO in turbo mode. He also added that now President Zelenskyy must sign the law.

People’s Deputy from the “Holos” faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that 331 people’s deputies voted for the bill – not a single member of parliament abstained or voted against.

People’s Deputies from the following factions voted for the bill:

  • parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party – 214 votes;
  • parliamentary faction of the European Solidarity party – 27 votes;
  • parliamentary faction of the Holos party – 16 votes;
  • parliamentary faction “Batkivshchyna” – 4 votes;
  • “Trust” deputy group – 17 votes;
  • deputy group “For the Future” – 11 votes;
  • the parliamentary faction “Restoration of Ukraine” – nine votes;
  • parliamentary faction “Platform for Life and Peace” – 17 votes;
  • non-factional people’s deputies – 15 votes.

It is worth noting that on July 31, the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of a bill that returns independence to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office .

As a reminder, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a bill that significantly limits the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), effectively subordinating their activities to the Prosecutor General, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed it.

It is worth noting that society negatively perceived the actual destruction of anti-corruption bodies. On July 22 and 23, hundreds of people in many cities of Ukraine took to rallies against Law No. 12414.
