“The climax is in a few days”: Russia is preparing a wave of fakes about prisoner exchanges
The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine warned that Russia has activated another large-scale information special operation aimed at undermining trust in the Ukrainian authorities and discrediting Ukraine in the eyes of the international community.
This was reported by the press service of the department.
It is noted that the culmination of this campaign is planned for the coming week, in particular, during the final days of the process of exchanging prisoners and dead.
According to intelligence sources, the decision to launch this operation was made personally by the President of the Russian Federation. All actions are coordinated by one of the first deputies of the Kremlin administration, and the immediate distribution of the necessary “messages” is ensured by Kremlin media resources, including Margarita Simonyan, Vladimir Solovyov, propaganda military correspondents and bloggers.
The goal is obvious – to sow distrust in the Ukrainian leadership, cause resentment among military personnel and their families, and discredit Kyiv as a party that is allegedly not fulfilling its obligations under the exchanges.
Pro-Russian news platforms from Europe, including Hungary’s Magyar Nemzet and Magyar Hírlap, Czech CZ24.news, Slovakia’s Jednotné Slovensko, and French-language Réseau International, are also involved in the propaganda attack. Their task is to promote Russian narratives among European audiences.
In particular, manipulative claims are being spread that “Ukraine refuses to accept the bodies of the dead” or that “the bodies of six thousand Ukrainian soldiers remain unidentified due to the inaction of the authorities.”
According to the SZRU, the final stage of the operation should be the introduction of fake lists of dead Ukrainians compiled by the Russian side. This could cause a wave of panic, distrust of the state, and attempts to justify the crimes of the aggressors themselves.
The intelligence service emphasized that such information leaks are part of a hybrid war, in which words and falsification become no less dangerous than missiles and drones. Ukrainians are urged not to succumb to provocations and to check sources of information.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that the next prisoner exchange with Russia could take place next week.
Recall that on Saturday, June 14, Ukraine returned its defenders from Russian captivity . This was the fourth exchange in the past week.
