Law enforcement officers have uncovered a large-scale scheme to appropriate and sell drones that were transferred to the military as part of the “Drone Army” project.

This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the investigation, the commander of one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as two civilians, are involved in the organization.

Investigators found that from November 2024 to March 2026, drones were illegally deregistered, after which they were transferred to accomplices for sale via the Internet.

“The drones were illegally deregistered, then transferred to civilian accomplices for further sale via online platforms,” the case materials state.

The scheme operated in several regions, including Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. According to the investigation, the group members misappropriated over 340 drones worth more than 15 million hryvnias.

“The proceeds of crime were allegedly used to purchase real estate, cars, and jewelry,” law enforcement officials said.

The investigation also established that the unit commander acquired assets worth more than 10.7 million hryvnias over the year, registering the property in the name of relatives.

During the searches, drones, components, documents, cash, and expensive cars were seized.

All those involved were informed of the suspicion, and a preventive measure was chosen for them – detention.
