The Council of Europe has reported a rapid worsening of the humanitarian crisis in occupied Oleshky.

The humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region is rapidly deteriorating. Civilians, including children, are left without sufficient food, medicine, medical care, water, and electricity.
This was stated in a statement by O’Flaherty, published by the press service of the Council of Europe, reports European Pravda .
O’Flaherty said the city’s residents were effectively trapped and the situation posed serious risks to their lives.
The Commissioner emphasized that, in accordance with international humanitarian law, Russia, as an occupying power, must provide the population of the occupied territory with food and medicine, as well as facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
O’Flaherty called for an immediate ceasefire in the Oleshky area, unimpeded access for humanitarian organizations and the safe evacuation of civilians.
“The difficult conditions and suffering of people caught up in the front lines and occupied territories require attention and action from the international community,” the commissioner said.
The Council of Europe previously reported on the deteriorating human rights situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and noted the need for increased international monitoring of these areas.
As a reminder, a humanitarian catastrophe continues in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. Around two thousand people remain in the town, critically short of food and medicine , while their ability to leave is effectively blocked.
As reported, after negotiations, the Russian side has not confirmed its readiness to conduct a humanitarian mission to evacuate civilians from the temporarily occupied Oleshky for a long time. The situation has reached the point where some people are attempting to escape the town on their own through mined fields.
Subsequently, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Russia was establishing a humanitarian blockade on the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson . The most difficult situation, he said, was in Oleshky, where approximately 2,000 people were left without electricity, gas, and regular supplies of food and medicine.
