The court chose a preventive measure for Chernyshov in the Energoatom corruption case: the ex-minister was sent to custody
On Tuesday, November 18, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court remanded former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is suspected of participating in a corruption scheme at Energoatom, into custody.
This was reported by Suspilne.
Chernyshov will be held in custody until January 16, 2026, with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 51 million hryvnias.
As it became known, two people — economist Oleksandr Savchenko and Mykhailo Anishchenko — filed a motion to release him on bail. However, the court denied them.
The prosecutor emphasized that granting Chernyshov bail would not protect him from the existing risks contained in the arrest request.
The suspect was forbidden to communicate with other people involved in the case, including Timur Mindich, Oleksandr Tsukerman, and Ihor Myronyuk.
Chernyshov, in turn, denies the charges. He says the detention is “shocking.” He adds that he will not be able to post bail because of the seized accounts.
His lawyer called the evidence in the case “conditional.” He is convinced that “only three documents out of three volumes of the case prove the enrichment” of the former minister by 55 million hryvnias.
As a reminder, on November 17 , the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court began hearings on the imposition of a preventive measure on former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov , who is suspected of participating in a corruption scheme at Energoatom.
Previously, NABU and SAPO handed the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine a request for the imposition of a preventive measure.
As is known, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office are conducting a large-scale operation “Midas” to expose corruption in the energy sector.
It is worth noting that NABU and SAPO documented how participants in the corruption scheme in the energy sector transferred money to the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine .
By the way, on November 11, anti-corruption authorities reported suspicions of illegal enrichment to the former Deputy Prime Minister .
