The High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure in the form of 60 days of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 10 million hryvnias for the former head of the Luhansk Oblast Administration and the Mukachevo Regional State Administration, Serhiy Haiday.

As it became known, at the beginning of the court hearing, the suspect’s lawyer asked to postpone the selection of a preventive measure due to the alleged lack of an extract from the unified register of pre-trial investigations.

However, the prosecution objected to the postponement and requested a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days with the possibility of posting bail in excess of 30 million hryvnias.

The prosecutor believes that Gaidai may influence witnesses and other defendants in the case.

“There is also a risk of obstructing the pre-trial investigation in other ways. We conclude that the only preventive measure is detention. But since this category of cases involves the payment of bail, we ask that it be set at 30 million 280 thousand hryvnias,” he said.

As a result, the judge partially granted the prosecution’s request, sending the former official to pre-trial detention with the possibility of posting bail of 10 million hryvnias.

If bail is posted, Gaidai will be prohibited from leaving Uzhhorod, communicating with other suspects and witnesses, and will also be required to surrender his foreign passports.

At the same time, the defense stated that it would file an appeal.

In addition, several servicemen of the State Border Service expressed a desire to take the former official on bail.
