On Monday, February 23, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the terrorist attack in the center of Lviv, which resulted in one person being killed and 25 others being injured.

By the judge’s decision, the 33-year-old accused was taken into custody for at least 60 days.

The prosecutor requested an arrest without bail. The court granted the prosecution’s request.

As it became known during the hearing, on the evening of February 21, a woman planted explosives in the city center – in garbage cans on Shpytalna Street. Her temporary housing was located opposite.

It is noted that in court the woman expressed her condolences and apologized.

We will remind, on the night of February 22, 2026 , two explosions were heard in the center of Lviv near the Magnus shopping center . No airstrike was declared in the city and region.

Later, law enforcement officers detained the alleged perpetrator of the explosion in one of the district centers of the Lviv region. The police were investigating other individuals involved in the terrorist attack, including possible masterminds.

It is worth noting that the terrorist attack killed 23-year-old policewoman Viktoriya Shpylka, and injured 25 more people . Six of the victims were in extremely serious condition.
