The court chose a preventive measure for Yermak: arrest with bail of 140 million hryvnias

On Thursday, May 14, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine chose a preventive measure for the former head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak – detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 140 million.

This became known during the broadcast of the court hearing.

According to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, if bail is posted, Yermak will be prohibited from traveling outside Kyiv without court permission, will be required to surrender his foreign passports, appear before investigators and the court, and will also be required to wear an electronic bracelet.

He is also prohibited from communicating with a number of people involved in the case, including Oleksiy Chernyshov and Timur Mindich, the Anti-Corruption Center reports.

After the court’s decision, Yermak said he planned to appeal it. He also said he did not have the necessary bail amount, but would try to raise it with the help of acquaintances.

In addition, he denied the accusations and stated that the trial was allegedly conducted under pressure.

The prosecutor’s office requested a stricter preventive measure – detention with the possibility of bail of UAH 180 million.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO have exposed an organized group suspected of legalizing 460 million hryvnias in an elite construction project near Kyiv. The suspicion was reported to one of the participants in the scheme, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

As reported, the corruption scandal surrounding people from President Volodymyr Zelensky’s inner circle may complicate negotiations on Ukraine’s early accession to the European Union.
