The court extended the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy

The court extended the preventive measure of detention for a 52-year-old resident of Lviv, who is suspected of the murder of Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

At the request of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court again decided to keep the suspect in custody without the alternative of posting bail.

The man is charged with several particularly serious crimes at once. Among them are high treason under martial law, attempted murder of a people’s deputy in connection with his state activities, illegal handling of weapons, and glorification and repeated justification of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

According to the investigation, on August 30 of this year, the suspect fired eight shots at Andriy Parubiy. The wounds received turned out to be fatal – the MP died on the spot.

After the attack, the man hid the firearm and planned to use it again. In September, law enforcement officers discovered the cache, and the results of the examinations confirmed the suspect’s involvement in the crime.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.

It was previously reported that the investigation received new key evidence in the case of the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy.

As a reminder, voting has begun in the capital’s city application Kyiv Digital on renaming one of the streets in honor of the former Speaker of the Parliament and People’s Deputy from “European Solidarity” Andriy Parubiy.
