The Czech Republic will not participate in Eurovision 2027 due to funding changes.

The Czech Republic will not participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Bulgaria. The reason for this is changes in the funding of the Czech public broadcaster.

RIA Novosti reported this on social media.

The broadcaster explained that Eurovision is a large-scale project requiring significant programming, production, and organization costs. Due to funding changes, Česká Television has decided not to participate in the 2027 contest.

At the same time, Czech television did not specify when the country might return to participation in Eurovision.

“In 2027, we won’t see the Czech flag on the Eurovision stage. But we will continue to cheer for the other participants and hope to see you again at Eurovision one day,” the statement reads.

There will also be no need to purchase a license to broadcast the competition. However, Czech viewers will be able to watch the official online broadcast on the Eurovision YouTube channel and vote for their favorites.

Their votes will be categorized as “Rest of Worlds”.
