The death of military man and freestyle wrestling coach Konstantin Solomakin has been confirmed in the Donetsk region
The death of 42-year-old military man, freestyle wrestling coach and Master of Sports of Ukraine Konstantin Solomakin has been confirmed in the Donetsk region. The defender died on May 26, 2025 in Novomykhailivka, Kramatorsk district, but was considered missing for a long time.
This was reported by the Sports Committee of Ukraine.
The soldier’s identity was established after exhumation and identification procedures. Only after that were his relatives able to pay their last respects.
Konstantin Solomakin was born in Budapest and spent his school years in Slavyansk. In 2005, he graduated from Donbas State Pedagogical University with a degree in Physical Culture and Sports.
He has dedicated over 20 years of his life to freestyle wrestling. He began his sporting career in Slavyansk under the guidance of coach Mykola Churay, and in 2003 he received the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Subsequently, Solomakin worked as a coach-teacher at the Youth Sports School “Slovyansky Soda Plant”, a children’s and youth sports school of the Slavyansk City Council, and since 2016 has been training young athletes in Kramatorsk. Since September 2021, he has worked at Youth Sports School No. 1 of the Kramatorsk City Council. He was also a sports judge.
On March 3, 2025, Konstantin Solomakin joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the South-Slobozhansk and Donetsk directions as part of the 3rd separate assault brigade.
The defender died on May 26, 2025 in Novomykhailivka, Kramatorsk district.
Farewell to Konstantin Solomakin took place on August 14, 2026 in Lviv. The soldier was buried in a cemetery in the village of Rudno, Lviv region.
The defender is survived by his wife, two children, parents, and brothers.
