The European Gymnastics Federation has allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions with their own flag and anthem. The organization supported the decision of the International Gymnastics Federation to lift the sanctions.
This was reported by the press service of the European Gymnastics Federation.
The organization’s statement stated that the European Gymnastics Federation will comply with the decision of the International Gymnastics Federation and lift the sanctions against athletes from Russia and Belarus.
The decision applies to the following disciplines:
- artistic gymnastics
- rhythmic gymnastics
- trampoline jumping
- sports acrobatics
- sports aerobics
The organization’s press service reported that Russian and Belarusian representatives will be able to perform at international tournaments with national flags and anthems.
Earlier, the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation decided to lift restrictions on Russian and Belarusian athletes that had been in place since February 2022. This means that they will be able to compete in international competitions with national flags and anthems.
Recall that the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) allowed athletes and teams from Belarus to once again compete under the national flag , in the uniform of their national team, and to the national anthem.
