128 Enemy Assaults Repelled: Where the Fighting Is Most Intense

The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces released an evening update at 10:00 PM on August 20, 2025, detailing the current situation on the front lines of Russia’s ongoing invasion. The report highlights the scale of enemy assaults and the directions where fighting remains most intense.

In total, 128 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel enemy attempts to advance deeper into our territory.

The Russian forces launched two missile strikes with five missiles, 43 airstrikes, and dropped 69 guided bombs. In addition, they used 1,763 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,892 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.

• North Slobozhansk and Kursk directions: Four combat clashes took place. The enemy carried out 13 airstrikes, dropped 29 guided bombs, and conducted 198 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including 15 with multiple launch rocket systems.

• South Slobozhansk direction: Nine enemy attacks targeted the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Vovchansk, Ambarne, Figolivka, and in the direction of Khatne and Katerynivka.

• Kupyansk direction: The enemy attempted two offensive actions near Holubivka and in the Kupyansk sector.

• Lyman direction: Ukrainian forces repelled 24 enemy assaults near Karpivka, Ridkodub, Kolodyazi, Myrne, Torske, and in the directions of Olhivka, Shandryholove, Yampil, Dronivka, and Hryhorivka. Four clashes are still ongoing.

• Siversky direction: The enemy launched five attacks near Hryhorivka, Pereizne, and in the directions of Viymka and Fedorivka. All attacks were repelled.

• Kramatorsk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault towards Stupochky.

• Toretsk direction: Ten combat clashes occurred today. The enemy attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Yablunivka, Shcherbinivka, and in the directions of Stepanivka, Poltavka, and Popovy Yar. One attack is still ongoing.

• Pokrovsk direction: Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has carried out 36 assaults near Volodymyrivka, Nykanorivka, Fedorivka, Novoekonomichne, Myrolyubivka, Lysivka, Zvirovo, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove, Novoukrainka, Dachne, and in the directions of Bilytske, Rodynske, and Myrnohrad.

Today, according to preliminary data, 112 enemy personnel have been neutralized in this sector, including 67 confirmed killed. In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed one vehicle, four motorcycles, six unmanned aerial vehicles, and a UAV control point. Three artillery systems and 10 enemy shelters were also damaged.

• Novopavlivka direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 attacks by the invaders near Tolstoy, Shevchenko, Vilne Pole, Voskresenka, Zelene Pole, and in the directions of Filia, Komyshuvakha, Sichneve, and Novohryhorivka. Three more clashes are ongoing.

• Hulyaipil direction: The enemy did not conduct any assault operations.

• Orikhiv direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault near Primorske.

• Dnipro direction: Enemy units attempted three advances, all of which were successfully repelled.
