The Defense Forces pushed the enemy away from Sumy: the General Staff revealed details about the situation in the border region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue the defensive operation in the North Slobozhansk direction, destroying Russian occupiers who are trying to carry out assault operations in the border regions of Sumy region.

This was reported to the General Staff.

The actions of Ukrainian troops in the Sumy and Kursk regions restrained enemy groups, the number of which reached 50 thousand people. It is noted that in this way they were not redeployed to threatening sections of the front, in particular the Pokrovsky and Novopavlivsky directions.

As of now, the situation remains stable: the enemy’s advance has been stopped along the Yunakivka – Yablunivka – Novomykolaivka – Alekseevka – Kindrativka – Russian border – bridgehead in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region.

“Our troops are holding defense along the designated line, carrying out measures to prepare and carry out counteroffensive actions to dislodge the enemy. Thus, as a result of the successful actions of Ukrainian soldiers, the settlement of Andriivka was liberated,” the General Staff said in a statement.

Also, units of the Defense Forces advanced near Oleksiivka, managing to push the enemy further away from Sumy.

The General Staff emphasized that the Russians are deploying the best brigades of their army to the border, actively using long-range artillery, aviation, and strike drones.

At the same time, the enemy does not abandon attempts to displace Ukrainian units from the territory of the Russian Federation – the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

However, the Defense Forces are effectively resisting the invaders, destroying their personnel, enemy equipment, and weapons.

According to the General Staff, during June, the losses of the occupiers in the Severno-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions amounted to about 9,310 servicemen: more than 4,470 were irretrievable, about 4,800 were medical, and 42 were prisoners of war. In total, since the beginning of the Kursk operation, the Russians have lost more than 75,860 people in these directions, including 1,037 prisoners of war.

At the same time, in June, Ukrainian troops destroyed 423 units of Russian military equipment, including six tanks, 20 armored combat vehicles, 89 units of artillery systems and MLRS, and three air defense systems.

Among other things, it became known that fire damage to the enemy is inflicted to a depth of up to 100 km, including the territory of the Russian Federation.

“During June, the following were hit: 16 enemy command posts, 8 KSPs, 6 areas of concentration of manpower, 1 area of concentration of weapons and military equipment, 3 ammunition depots, 3 material and technical equipment depots, 3 UAV storage depots, 2 UAV control points, 2 resupply depots, a logistics base and an oil depot,” the headquarters summarized.

Recall that Russia has deployed 50,000 soldiers to the Sumy region , which is three times the number of Ukrainian troops in this direction.

As stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, Ukrainian troops have stopped the advance of the invaders in the Sumy region .

By the way, the Russian summer offensive failed within a few weeks of its start , despite a record number of attacks on various fronts.
