The deportation of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation: Lubinets announced new data

Russia officially recognized the removal of over 744,000 Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on the air of “Armia FM.

The Ombudsman emphasizes that the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, previously stated that 744,000 Ukrainian children living in the occupied territories were taken to the Russian Federation.

However, the illegal removal of 19.5 thousand children was officially recorded.

The Commissioner for Human Rights emphasized that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has managed to return 2,274 children.

Lubinets adds that the return process still remains complex, as there is no clear universal mechanism.

He notes that each case is considered individually, as it requires separate negotiations, preparation of documents, and organization of logistics.

In particular, assistance in the return of Ukrainian children is provided by international partners, including the United States, Qatar, the Vatican, and other states. Support is also provided by Ukrainian charitable organizations.

The Ombudsman emphasized that about 1.6 million Ukrainian children may remain in the occupied territories.

It was previously reported that Russian state-owned energy companies may be involved in the removal of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories and their subsequent ideological influence.

Also , five more children were returned from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
