On Thursday, November 20, the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualification play-offs took place in Switzerland and the opponents of the Ukrainian national team were determined.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Football Association.
According to the results of the draw, the Ukrainian team will go through path B, meeting on March 26 in a duel with the Swedish team.
And in case of victory, Ukraine will compete for a place in the World Cup with the leader of the match Poland – Albania.
The second game is scheduled for March 31, 2026.
The results of the European World Cup and Nations League qualifiers determined 16 playoff participants. All participants were divided into four pots. Ukraine was placed in the first pot, which also included Italy, Denmark, and Turkey.
The UAF explained that the FIFA ranking from November 19 was taken into account for the first three pots, and the winners of the Nations League groups took fourth place.
Earlier, the Ukrainian national team defeated Iceland 2-0 in a World Cup qualifying match . Thanks to this result, the team guaranteed itself participation in the playoffs.
