The elections in Berlin ended with a victory for the Left: how many votes did the party gain?

The vote count in the state parliament elections in Berlin has been completed. The Left Party came in first place, receiving 25.7% of the vote.

This is evidenced by data from the Berlin state election commission.

The Christian Democratic Union came in second with 18.8% of the vote. The far-right Alternative for Germany came in third with 16.3% .

The Greens received 14.3% , and the Social Democratic Party of Germany received 12.1% .

Compared to the 2023 elections, the Left increased its support by 13.4 percentage points , when it received 12.2% of voters. At the same time, the SPD lost 6.3 percentage points.

Thus, the Left Party became the strongest political force in the elections to the Berlin House of Representatives for the first time. The current coalition of the CDU and the SPD lost its majority according to the voting results.
