The long political career of Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko may be coming to an end after unsuccessful attempts to agree on a coalition with the current government. Negotiations to create an “alliance for two” lasted for over a month.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by political scientist Volodymyr Tsybulko.
According to him, the main goal of these actions was to obtain the prime minister’s portfolio in exchange for support for the “Servant of the People”.
“This is the end of the Tymoshenko era. She lived 30 years in Ukrainian politics. These were very peculiar years with successes, failures, and prison,” Tsybulko said.
The political scientist is convinced that Tymoshenko “falsely started” by trying to take advantage of the difficult situation in parliament. Despite her intentions to join the coalition, she ultimately came out with sharp criticism, comparing the current period to the Yanukovych era.
Tsybulko believes that such maneuvers and internal scandals, in particular the departure of deputies from the faction after NABU searches, deprive it of its chances of participating in future election campaigns. The style of politics, based on lobbying the business interests of corporations, no longer finds the expected response in the system, the studio guest emphasized.
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to MP, head of the Batkivshchyna faction Yulia Tymoshenko. The investigation covers the facts of bribery to parliamentarians for supporting or blocking certain initiatives in the session hall. NABU also published audio recordings in the case of an alleged offer of an illegal benefit to MPs.
In response, Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko stated that she had nothing to do with the audio recordings released by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. She also emphasized that she intends to prove her position in court.
On January 16, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for the head of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko. The court set bail in the amount of over 33 million hryvnias and imposed a number of procedural obligations on her.
As “Pryamiy” reported, one of the most discussed topics in the media and social networks was the scandal related to searches and suspicions by the NABU and SAPO of bribery of MPs by the leader of the parliamentary faction of the “Batkivshchyna” party, Yulia Tymoshenko. According to economist Borys Kushniruk, Tymoshenko is covering up her own bribery with high-profile accusations against other people. He also analyzed the latest statements of the “Batkivshchyna” leader.
