Russian shelling has caused significant damage to oil and gas production facilities in Ukraine. The situation is currently critical.
This was stated by Dmytro Ponomarenko, Director of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production at DTEK Naftogaz, RBC-Ukraine reports .
“The situation today looks critical in terms of the destruction of oil and gas production facilities due to military actions,” he stressed.
According to him, to protect energy infrastructure facilities, it is necessary to have a sufficient number of air defense systems.
Ponomarenko added that Russia has been attacking DTEK facilities for four years now, and each time, specialists have made significant efforts to restore them.
“It all depends on the degree of damage. But if you are affected by supercritical capacities, then they need to be restored within a year, no less,” the director noted.
Recall that due to Russia’s attacks on gas production facilities, Ukraine will be forced to increase gas imports from abroad .
By the way, as a result of Russian shelling, which began to intensify in February, Ukraine lost about 42% of daily gas production in two months , and during June and July, “processing was completely destroyed.”
