On the night of October 2, Russian occupiers struck at railway infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

The enemy massively attacked the Ukrzaliznytsia depot in Odessa. As a result of the shelling, the train driver received shrapnel wounds and was provided with the necessary assistance.

In addition, according to the minister, there were attacks on railway infrastructure in the northern regions, in particular in Konotop in Sumy region.

He explained that the trains stopped at a safe distance from the affected area. The contact network has now been restored, and all rail transport has resumed its movement.

However, due to the attack, trains in the Chernihiv and Sumy directions are delayed.

“Russia is trying every day to destroy one of the foundations of Ukrainian stability – our infrastructure, which holds the country together. This includes railways, roads, and energy,” Kuleba emphasized.

As a reminder, on the morning of September 30 , Russian troops launched a massive strike on the Chernihiv region . Due to the consequences of the strikes, Ukrzaliznytsia warned of changes in traffic: some flights from Kyiv to Nizhyn were canceled, others were delayed.

Earlier , several sections of the railway were knocked out of power as a result of a Russian attack in the Poltava region. This caused delays in passenger trains and one person was injured.
