The EU has agreed to release €6.6 billion from a fund related to military aid to Ukraine.

European Union member states have agreed on the terms for releasing €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility related to military support for Ukraine.
This was announced by the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas.
According to her, €900 million will be allocated to finance the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM). Another €1 billion will be used for new joint military equipment purchases.
The remaining €4.7 billion is intended to reimburse EU member states for military aid already provided. At the same time, some countries have already stated that they may use the compensation received to further support Ukraine.
Thus, not the entire €6.6 billion amount will be transferred directly to Ukraine: the final volume of new military aid will depend, in particular, on the decisions of individual EU member states on how to use the compensation.
“This is good news for Ukraine and bad news for Russia,” Kallas said.
She also noted that, in her opinion, Russian hybrid attacks are intended to force Europe to reduce its support for Ukraine, but the EU continues to increase it.
The European Peace Facility is a financial instrument of the EU through which, inter alia, military aid to partners is financed and Member States are reimbursed for the costs of such support.
