The EU has allocated the first €10 million to launch a special tribunal into Russian crimes

The European Union has allocated the first 10 million euros for the establishment of a Special Tribunal for Russia’s crimes against Ukraine.

This is reported by Kaya Kallas.

According to her, the Russian leadership bears direct responsibility for the outbreak of the war and must be held accountable.

“Russian leaders are responsible for this war, and they must be held accountable. There can be no impunity,” Kallas stressed.

She also reported that she had discussed further steps to establish the tribunal and signed a corresponding contract with the Council of Europe.

It was previously reported that the Council of Europe’s initiative to create a Special International Tribunal, which would consider the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine, has encountered financial difficulties that may hinder its implementation.

As a reminder, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, suggested that a special tribunal regarding Russian crimes against Ukraine could become operational in 2026.
